In an effort to reduce spam posts we have installed the vBulletin module “ Spambuster ” on the Pligg forum. The plugin automatically detects spam based on a point system that checks keywords from users who haven’t posted much. O plugin detecta automaticamente o spam baseado em um sistema de ponto que verifica palavras-chave dos usuários que não tenham destacado muito. Any posts that it thinks might be spam are automatically turned invisible and a thread is created for moderators to review the post and deal with it appropriately. Todas as postagens que ele pensa que poderia ser spam são automaticamente ativado invisível e uma discussão é criada para moderadores de rever o lugar e tratá-la adequadamente.

I spent some time this evening going over what was causing problems with donors not being credited automatically like they did months ago. Passei algum tempo indo esta noite sobre o que estava causando problemas com os doadores que não sejam creditados automaticamente como se fez há meses. After looking into the problem I quickly realized that I had made a big mistake that had gone unnoticed for months. Depois de olhar para o problema que rapidamente percebeu que eu tinha cometido um grande erro que tinha ido despercebidos por meses. At some point I had installed two separate Paypal donation plugins for vBulletin and somehow never noticed. Em algum momento eu tinha instalados dois separar Paypal doação plugins para vBulletin e de algum modo nunca reparou. I didn’t realize until tonight that the plugins were separate and thus the features of the two are not combined, so I had to choose one plugin over the other. I chose to go with the more simple plugin, which is visually less attractive and has fewer features than the other. There have been some issues with the Pligg donation page automatically crediting donors, so until I figure out a solution I will have to manually add donors to the list so that they no longer see ads. If you have donated using the same email address that you used to register for the Pligg forum you should be credited by the end of the day. Hopefully this issue can be resolved sometime in the next week, but I don’t have an easy way to test the donor status at this moment without actually donating. Pligg Beta 9.8 released today (9/8/2007) with several bug fixes and a more compatible and optimized template. We noticed today that it has been a really long time since the last major release, but if you compare us to Mac OS X we are moving pretty fast with incremental updates. Today we are introducing a new look for the Pligg Forum . Hoje estamos a introduzir um novo olhar para o Pligg Fórum. Now the forum matches the rest of the site, by adapting the Fraxi template used on the homepage and blog. Agora o fórum combine com o resto do site, através de uma adaptação do modelo utilizado Fraxi na página inicial e blog. The new template was coded by the good folks at Moonrank USA, and designed by myself ( Yankidank ). O novo modelo foi codificado pela boa gente em E.U.A. Moonrank, e desenhado por mim (Yankidank). The templates were paid for by our generous donors, and to thank them we have removed all advertisements from the template for any registered forum member donors. Os modelos foram pagos pelos nossos generosos doadores, e agradecer-lhes nós removemos todos os anúncios do modelo para qualquer membro registado fórum doadores. It’s not too late though for those of you who have not yet donated, submit a donation of $10 or more and reap the benefits. Even after spending a considerable amount of time yesterday cleaning up spam links and even adding some additional content to the Pligg Wiki I have decided to pull the plug on it. Mesmo depois de gastar uma quantidade considerável de tempo ontem limpeza spam links e ainda acrescentar alguns conteúdos adicionais para o Pligg Wiki eu decidi para puxar a ficha sobre ele. Today I signed on and saw that there was a significant amount of spam added since my visit a day earlier. Hoje eu vi e assinado, em que houve uma significativa quantidade de spam adicionados desde a minha visita um dia antes. We have been looking for software to replace the wiki for a while now, but there doesn’t seem to be a nice package offered for vBulletin users. Fomos à procura de software para substituir o wiki por um tempo agora, mas lá não parece ser um bom pacote oferecido por vBulletin usuários. The MediaWiki platform has not only a horrible interface, few customizable options, and a generic template thats difficult to change, but it has basically no spam protection. O MediaWiki plataforma não só tem uma interface horrível, poucas opções personalizáveis, e um modelo genérico thats difícil de mudar, mas tem basicamente nenhuma proteção contra spam. The wiki’s contents will be copied prior to taking it down so that we could post it elsewhere when we find a better system. It looks that it might be a while before we find a better method for posting this type of content, but I’m too frustrated with removing huge amounts of spam daily to allow this to continue. Last week we shut down the old Pligg Wiki because of a large amount of spam that the moderators were not able to keep up with. Na semana passada, fechou a velha Pligg Wiki devido a uma grande quantidade de spam que os moderadores não foram capazes de acompanhar. To make up for the short Wiki downtime we are announcing the brand new Pligg Wiki 2.0 . Para compensar o curto Wiki inatividade estamos anunciando o novíssimo Pligg Wiki 2.0. The new wiki system integrates with vBulletin, allowing registered forum members to edit wiki articles and even post comments. O novo sistema integra com vBulletin wiki, permitindo que os membros registados fórum para editar artigos wiki e até mesmo postar comentários. The new wiki operates much like a normal forum, so it is easy to create new Wiki pages and browse and edit the existing pages. I have already added several pages from our old forum to the new wiki and some of those articles appear with a “Reserved for future use” message at the top. I wanted to fill everyone in on what’s going on behind the scenes at Pligg.com because a lot of readers and Pligg users have been concerned about where Pligg might be headed. Eu queria encher todos no sobre o que está acontecendo nos bastidores em Pligg.com, porque um grande número de leitores e usuários Pligg foram preocupados com Pligg onde possam ser liderado. What most of you have been asking me are two things, the first being “why are you trying to sell Pligg”? The simplest answer I can give is that Pligg has been very difficult to manage with such a small team with a limited amount of time available to maintain the project. A mais simples resposta que posso dar é que Pligg tem sido muito difícil de gerir uma pequena equipa com tais com uma quantidade limitada de tempo disponível para manter o projeto. Not only does it take a lot of time to squash bugs and develop new features for the code, but keeping up with the forum takes a lot of time too. We also feel that at this point we have outgrown the foundation that we started with over a year and a half ago. I would like to completely redo the site and staff a full time developer, but we are not fortunate to do that at this point. I think that by selling the site we are able to hand over the project to someone better equipped to handle these things.
